F.U.T.S.A.L.I.N.A.S. ~ (repost from older blog) ~

To start of this day, i woke up early at 6.45am..

Was so tired, so i slept n woke up again at 7.15am.. Why do i have to wake up early on a Saturday morning? Have i lost my mind or my skull cracked? Hmm.. xde la macam tu skali.. Well, hari ni ade Tournament Futsalinas InterPart.. Iaitu, setiap part kene turut serta. But, its a 'girls only' competition..
Disebabkan ade 5 part je yg stay kt fakulti, so, only 5 teams yg join. Part 6 sume g practical, so x dpt join. Nama-nama team telah diberikan oleh Sir Gordon. Our team, part 2 was SELENE.
Part-part lain adalah Arthemis, Aphrodite, Athena & Hera.
Mase pusingan liga, team kteorg memule leading, but until kiteorg seri ngn team Arthemis n Hera. Ble masuk semi, kiteorg kalah. So, Final kiteorg jumpe ngn team part 4 iaitu Athena n menang 3-1.

i was the goalkeeper. so, apabila gol kite bolos kite akan rase bersalah.. heheh.. but.. hmm.. what done is done n i felt that 've done all i could. Dan rai rase, rai dh what the best..

Hmm.. kekadang rai rase tersisih sket.. heheh .. hmm.. ntah.. lantak la... i don't mind. But sometimes, bende tu obvious sgt la.. But then again, xpe.. They don't know how i feel n felt.. Yes, rai dh berubah sikit.. Dh jd pendiam sket.. But oother people just could not change. Or maybe they change from bad to worst.. HAhaha... hmm.. apsal serious sgt nih? Xde la, bkn pe.. time rai jd keeper, as we all know, keeper nih mesti la byk terbang-terbang n baring-baring, heheh n so, it will be accompanied by bruises... Yupe, mmg byk bengkak-bengkak n lebam-lebam, but as usual, no one knows coz they just don't care.. My left hand hurts from punching the ball to prevent a score, but still no one cares.. Haahaha..xpe la.. rai pun x kesah..
kite idop dlm dunia nih, byk masalah sebenarnye, but sometimes we just have to live with it n pandai-pandai jg diri..

Hmm.. k, esok my final match Volleyball utk menentukan johan n naib johan.. Memang minggu ni x rehat langsung.,, Next week dh la start puase n Rabu depan practical gymnastics.... Waaaaa busy.. busy.. busy...

SI BONGKOK PAHLAWAN JOHOR

*i'm posting this story/article here because m proud to be a Johorian and theres a song here that i love to hum... nyways, its a meaningful story and a historical one.

Si Bongkok pun bersedia menghadapi tentangan angkatan Panglima Johor.

Rondaan kapal perang Panglima Johor akhirnya berjaya mengesan kedudukan kapal Si Bongkok. Mereka segera merapati kapal itu untuk menyerangnya.

Si Bongkok mengarahkan pengikutnya seramai lima puluh orang menyerang belas askar diraja itu. Pertempuran hebat berlaku di atas kapal, di tengah lautan.

Selepas lama bertempur, akhirnya angkatan Panglima Johor tewas.

Episod akhir perjuangan Si Bongkok berlaku apabila sekali lagi kapalnya diserang.

After 3 long years apart, the dynamic trio will join forces creating the hardest yet uplifting sound. Their name stems from 1 main element, the hardness of a driving bass line. Their music of choice includes Hard Dance, it being one of the most underground sounds in the world. THE MELBOURNE SHUFFLE

The Melbourne Shuffle is a style of dance, originating in the late 1980s in the Melbourne underground scene. The movements are typical jazz dance steps incorporated with a modern twist

.

Introduction

The basis of the Melbourne Shuffle has traditionally been footwork performed by combining three basic steps.

  1. Sliding to the left or right and then back and forth. When performed well Shufflers can seem to be gliding across the floor defying gravity.
  2. Shuffling on Spot is used for different reasons. A Shuffler using this step can conserve energy for a few moments prior to a change in beat and pattern of music. A Shuffler may step back and allow another dancer to take centre stage meanwhile Shuffling on Spot. Arm movements come into play more often while in this step as it allows the dancer to express a connection with the music as to the beat with the feet.
  3. Shuffle in a triangular pattern is a very energetic step which can be performed with great flair.

The modern shuffler usually performs around 5 different moves while shuffling:

  1. The running man is the most popular move where the shuffler "runs" on the spot. One foot is lifted from standing position and placed in front while the other slides back, then the foot at the back is lifted up into the standing position while the forward foot slides into the standing position and the process is repeated to the beat.
  2. The shuffle is like a t-shaped movement which is well documented by "BigMilan" on Youtube.com
  3. Slides, where the shuffler normally slides left and right occasionally, the slide is usually and long "glide" along the dance floor and is mostly followed by a spin.
  4. Spins can be "normal" or "inverted". A normal spin meaning you lift one foot from standing position and use it to propel your body in a clockwise direction. An inverted spin is the opposite, where you lift one foot from standing position and use it to propel yourself in an anticlockwise direction. Both spins are common and are incorporated into the shuffle.
  5. Kicks are done with one foot while the other is used to "shuffle" along to one side. Kicks can be low (some shufflers prefer to kick at the ground while shuffling to one side) and high (some shufflers kicking up to their waists). The point of kicking is to look balanced and controlled, so when kicking multiple times shufflers prefer not to bend their knees while their leg is in the air.

Dance moves from other styles such as mimeing, popping, locking, liquiding, running man and breaking can also be incorporated into shuffling.

History

The Melbourne Shuffle was one of several dances that emerged during the acid house era. Some have described the main dance styles in that period as jacking, stepping, and shuffling. However, as the acid house genre became more diverse, two different but not mutually exclusive, dance philosophies evolved: the back-step and the shuffle. The Shuffle has continued to evolve in Melbourne nightclubs and events over the years, and has adopted moves from established dance styles such as hat tricks, spins, and running on the spot.

Some of the major events, clubs and communities that took part in the evolution of the shuffle over the years are:

Raves and Event Organizers: Land of the Giants. Pureflow. Every Picture Tells A Story, Centre House, Melbourne CBD Commerce House, Melbourne CBD Hardware. Pharmacy (aka Kill Rock Star). Earthcore. Omniglobe / IF? Events. Smile Police. Future Entertainment. Oracle Events.

Clubs: Chinese Laundry @ Dome - 1993 by Hardware This club has since been restarted. Climax @ Inflation Night Club - Tuesday Nights from 1994 - 1997. Filter/Switch - Wednesday night and one of Melbourne’s longest running nights 1992-2001. Originally Awol Then called Escape on Friday nights run by S.O.N. @ Club CBD 1996-1998 (Pre-Bassstation). Bass Station (changed names to just "Bass" in 2006). Frantic. Wetmusik. Teriyaki Anarki Saki. The Zoetrope Live Electronica sessions @ the Punters Club, 1997-2001 Hard Kandy. PHD (Pure Hard Dance). GOD (Gospel of Dance). Bubble Nightclub (Melbourne's Weekly Rave Playground). [1] Elevation - Thursday Nights @ Shiva (Previously at Altitude)

Rave Venues: TVU Warehouse (Footscray)See video, Center House, Melbourne CBD, Commerce House, Melbourne CBD, Global Village. See video, Docklands(The Old Sheds)See video, Kryal Castle. The Palace (St. Kilda). CBD (Hardware Lane). Cage. Brown Alley. The Metro. See video. QBH. Bubble Nightclub (Francis St, CBD)

  • 1985 - 1988 - Melbournians dance on the spot with a bit of bopping. (Not recognizable as the Melbourne shuffle).
  • 1989 - 1990 - People mixed skanking with funk, additional leg movement while remaining in one position and a bit of bop still in it. Classically trained dancers incorporated tap and contemporary dance with break dance steps. B-Boys and mainly female trained dancers, exchange moves and experiment with new steps to suit the new music style, generically called Techno.
  • 1991 - 1992 - The Melbourne shuffle begins to emerge as a distinct dance, incorporating more hand movement than previous styles. Techno music is gradually replaced with trance music and house music
  • 1993 - 1995 - Was the centre point, people were gliding because now trance music & house music was a big part of the Melbourne Party/Rave culture and the foot movement of the Melbourne shuffle was well into existence. The key move to the Melbourne shuffle was one foot lifted off the ground and the other foot was making a heel to toe movement along to the beat of the music for a short period of time and then reversed. This allowed a dancer to glide side to side whilst holding their hands in front following the trebles of the music, making the dancing style look hypnotic. Some dancers could spin in a 360 circle before changing to the other foot. There are many variations of this dance but the main heel to toe movement remained the key motion giving it the term "The Melbourne Shuffle.”

See videos from this era featuring the Melbourne Shuffle: Mel-ben Shuffle 92-94, Every Picture Tells A Story - 1992-94, Ra/Natural One - 1994, Hardware 5 - 1994 Melbourne Shuffle OldSkool Conversations

  • 1996 - 1997 - The Melbourne Shuffle is recognized by interstate and overseas partygoers as a unique dance.
  • 1997 - 1998 - Minimal house was gradually introduced, and the glide reverted to a funk again.
  • 2000 - 2001 - Dancing style returns to more "on the spot", with less hand movement. The key turning point in the evolution of the Melbourne Shuffle.
  • 2002 - 2007 - The hat dance was incorporated involving having a hat flicked off the head and caught and quickly putting it back on. Funk was around still but more of a hard edge funk incorporating jumping a very energetic dance but with far less hand movement compared to the mid 90’s. There are also Shufflers who have incorporated liquid, popping and glides into their dance, while a sub-style known as "hardstyle" (as representing the music genre it is danced to) depicting the harder, more distinct movements fundamentally based on a harder "running man" has now become very prominent.

In 2006 with the emergence of Youtube Melbourne Shuffle Channel, dancers internationally now contribute to the Shuffle, posting their own versions and learning from each other on-line.

Music

The music that Melbourne Shufflers originally danced to was House Music and Acid house in the late 1980s. In the early 1990s as Trance music came in the dancing style changed to a glide which changed back when Minimal House came in. In 2007 Melbourne shufflers listen to hard trance, hardstyle, jumpstyle, hard house, psytrance, breakbeat, drum and bass, Tribal House and Techno.

Dancing

Today known as "rocking" to the Melbourne locals, the name "Melbourne Shuffle" has been derived from overseas DJs, partygoers, visitors and the media trying to describe this phenomenon. Locals have simply called it the "shuffle" since 1992. The Melbourne rave/electronic music dancers don’t generally dance for competition; or to show off, but for themselves, for fun and self-expression. Learning is generally achieved through watching other dancers and incorporating variations into their own style, by which they create an individual style representing their own personality.

Some dancers sprinkle talcum powder on the floor beneath their feet to help them glide more easily. The use of talc to improve dancing has been around for decades, particularly popular with dancers at Northern Soul all-nighters in the u.s

Media

"The Melbourne Shuffle" dance style remained relatively underground since its birth in the late 80s and early 90s. The Term "The Melbourne Shuffle" was not used till 1998 when Sonic Animation's Rupert Keiller was interviewed by RAGE. When the interviewer asked Rupert what his unique style of dance was, his reply was "The Melbourne Shuffle" since then the word circulated around the scene for a couple of years before finally being brought to light by a front page newspaper article which appeared in Melbourne's The Age newspaper in 2002, attempting to illustrate what the Melbourne Shuffle was for the first time to the mainstream public because thousands of young Melbournians were shuffling at dance parties every week.

Recently the shuffle has spread to Malaysia, most likely due to Malaysian students studying in Melbourne, discovering the electronic dance music scene and taking the unique shuffle back with them. Since 2005, there have been 'Shuffle Competitions' held in Malaysia. There were also Street shuffle exhibitions which were held at different places with the main reason as to promote this dance to the public. There were even talks about this Melbourne Shuffle on the radio and television by a team from Sarawak, called "Hazard Minors whom previously called themselves as the Kuching Shuffle Team KST)" and also were publicized on Chinese newspapers, magazines and dance journals.

Shufflers have taken their art form and self-expressive dance style overseas and are a regular sight to be seen at rave parties in the UK, Germany, Malaysia, and Thailand. Melbourne socialite and jetsetter, Jason Fabbri aka. "Dr. Shuff" is an ambassador of this particular dance, and is a regular sight at overseas dance clubs, especially in the United States. The internet has also been a factor in spreading knowledge and interest in the shuffle.

A documentary entitled Melbourne Shuffler was in production during 2004-2005 and was recently released in late 2005 on DVD.

Yesterday was the shooting for Sayang You Can Dance movie which is said to be out this November. I woke up at 6.30am and waited for a van to Kuching at 7.30am. Arrived at the shooting venue that is the Old Opera Theater / Little Lebanon.

The Shooting was until 3pm. But that was just for our scene , for others, some of them maybe stayed there until nite time.

Examss Examss Exams...

Yes yes, it’s finally here.. And it shows that my third semester in UiTM Samarahan is bout to be over.. Hmm.. next week is my study week, so maybe I’ll try to find ways to study? LOL..

Hmm.. it has been a very busy and packed semester. With studies, shows n etc.. Well, I need to cope with study although i’m quite busy with other stuff..

Arghh…. I’m goin to miss Tiesto at Port Dickson.. Damn… The event is on the 9 and 10 May, my final paper is on the 7th of May.. But, my flight back to KL is on the 13th May.. Well, guess I’m goin to miss another fun raving event. ~awwww

Hmm.. its been a while since I blog anything, due to my busy-ness study life. Lolz Well, been back from Miri means I have to catch up with my studies. And, becoz my finals r just around the corner, seems that fewer updates on my blog.. Sorry.. LOLz..

But, I hope I could still attend Back To Root part 4.. haha…

SPS 211 : Exercise Physiology Test 2

Arghh.. well, this test is suppose to be last Monday. But the lecturer postponed it till today.. Its 0725am now n i still got 2 more hours to do a quick and last minute revision.

Hmm.. well, i hope i passed this test. I dunt want it to be 'only pass', at least a B+ or A- is really needed in order for me to keep up my CGPA... hmm. guess its struggle time. lolz..

Tonite is the 'Malam Pensyarah Bersama Pelajar Menjelang Peperiksaan Akhir'. Well, its actually like a Annual Farewell dinner for our outgoing seniors but to make it sounds like a suitable formal function, it turn out like the above.. ~duh

Ok, if its formal, why do u need a theme for it? haha.. and the theme for tonite is 'Costume' ahaks..... some might even thought of it as a cosplay. lolz.. for not having any costume to wear, i'll just goin to wear my cheogsam.. haha.. dress like an innocent chinese lady with a rihanna hairstyle.. LOLz... ahaksss

Hmm.. i've been reading Aliciaks' blog and she's been talking bout loosening some weights.. Hmm.. seems like people around me keeps on talking about it.. So, heres my part of the story.. ngehehehe... Well, last semester i really gained a lot of weight due to our intro and final camp. Well, usually i just ate once a day and hav a few other courses later, but during camping, due to the exhausting atmosphere and scheduled time to eat, i was eating 3 to 4 times daily during the camp. just imagine, the first time i set foot in Sarawak, i only weight 55kg and now gained to 63kg. But, i'm glad that all of those shufflin' paid off, coz i lost 2kg from doin those harstyle moves.. ngeheheheh... well, at least i lost some weight.. heheh..

ahakss.. here is what i've studied last semester in Nutrition class...

try to calculate ur Body Mass Index (BMI) and try to see, whether ur in a good shape, overweight, or in need of gaining weight.

Best of Luck!

What is BMI?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person’s weight and height. BMI is a reliable indicator of body fatness for people. BMI does not measure body fat directly, but research has shown that BMI correlates to direct measures of body fat, such as underwater weighing and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA).1, 2 BMI can be considered an alternative for direct measures of body fat. Additionally, BMI is an inexpensive and easy-to-perform method of screening for weight categories that may lead to health problems.

How is BMI calculated and interpreted?

Calculation of BMI
BMI is calculated the same way for both adults and children. The calculation is based on the following formulas:

Measurement Units Formula and Calculation
Kilograms and meters (or centimeters) Formula: weight (kg) / [height (m)]2

With the metric system, the formula for BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. Since height is commonly measured in centimeters, divide height in centimeters by 100 to obtain height in meters.

Example: Weight = 68 kg, Height = 165 cm (1.65 m)
Calculation: 68 ÷ (1.65)2 = 24.98

Pounds and inches Formula: weight (lb) / [height (in)]2 x 703

Calculate BMI by dividing weight in pounds (lbs) by height in inches (in) squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703.

Example: Weight = 150 lbs, Height = 5’5” (65")
Calculation: [150 ÷ (65)2] x 703 = 24.96

BMI Weight Status
Below 18.5 Underweight
18.5 – 24.9 Normal
25.0 – 29.9 Overweight
30.0 and Above Obese

Subject Name : xaRaix

Age : 20 ( n still young.. ngehehe )

BMI = Weight / Height x Height

= 61kg / 166cm x 166cm

= 22.13 ( yay! i'm normal! lolz )

MIRI DANCE CARNIVAL : reviews and vids

Ok, I dunno what to blog today. But, I’ve remembered that I haven’t blog about my Miri Dance Carnival 2008.

It all started when we qualified and won third at the Preliminary Round at Monster’s Tongue , Kuching.

So, all of us went for the grand finale at Miri.

We just got the award for Best Teamwork. Guess that’s ok than nothing rite? At least we didn’t went back empty handed.

As for my solo compy, I was the 11th and the last competitor to perform. Well, didn’t won anything.. but being the only female to qualified for the finals and to got the opportunity to compete with other male in a quite ‘Big’ event, I might say that I accomplished something that is meaningful to me.

Gained experienced and it makes me wanna compete more! Heheh

Well, the thing is that it was a last minute entry and I didn’t even practiced my routine or I just dunt know what to do until I’ve ran out of ideas and suddenly, I started doin pop and locks and other liquid stuff for the interloop ( which was damn long..)

Hey, all’s well, ends well?

I took the first early morning bus the next day due to the exams n test that is waiting for me to be seated when I get back to Kuching.

Here’s the compy groupie vid and my solo vid.

~ this is my solo vid ~

Having a sight on Three Kingdom

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went to the cinema to watch a movie. We didn’t decided what movie to watch yet.. but just maybe going to pick any movie upon arriving later..

It was 7.15pm and the movie was already started when we arrive to the ticket booth. But hey, it’s only 15 minutes rite? So, we watched ‘ Three Kingdom’..

The movie was cool and all but I was really disappointed that it was only an hour and a half.. Woah, what a total rip off! Though movies like that would take hours to finish ( I mean like to Hindi movies )

Well, here’s the review of the Three Kingdom. Hmm.. the ending part was a bit, ‘hanging’.. coz u don’t know whether Zilong died or killed by the Coa’s or he had become hostage or…. Dunno? O_o

here's the trailer

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xL7mIJaKL0]

Ahah! And here’s a review of what I’ve watch on DVD jut now..

( well, being stuck in the hostel can be tremendously dull.. so, I’ve been watching DVD’s from my laptop… )

Also, Han-Na is in love with Ami’s music producer, Sang-June, but it is a one-sided love. One day, Han-Na is invited to Sang-June’s birthday party and receives a red dress from him to wear to his party. Han-Na was excited, yet scared. The dress is revealing and quite extravagant. With her very large figure, she is not sure if she could wear such an outfit She does eventually go to the party in the red dress, but is mortified when petite Ami appears in the same red dress. During the course of the birthday party, Han-Na absorbs more emotional trauma and she simply disappears….
